Batman: The Dark Knight of the Soul

Batman is one of the comic and movie world's most identifiable superheroes. Yet he is one of its most troubled crusaders.  This sermon explores the many ways in which Bruce Wayne attempts to save the people of Gotham and its assorted villains. Ultimately he is a very poor saviour  his only hope is that the world's true Saviour changes his heart.

The sermon begins with a short trailer from the first film and then proceeds to explore the Batman's attempts to bring redemption to his family, Gotham City, super-villains (Scarecrow, Harvey-two Face and the Joker) and finally to himself.  The problem is that because of our fallen nature (Romans 7:24) it is impossible to achieve this; only God can truly redeem our families, communities, enemies and ourselves by being born-again (Ezekiel 36:26).
